No one should be angry at Chief Justice John Roberts for exposing the Obama tax for what it is and holding Obamacare is constitutional under the broad power of Congress. Public anger should be directed at the politicians who denied it was a tax to pass Obamacare and are responsible for creating this mess. This is the ultimate bait-and-switch.
These words from Chief Justice Roberts decision today are a fitting summary of his views on the proper role of the Court.
"Members of this Court are vested with the authority to interpret the law; we possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation's elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices."
