Graham/Barrett Announce More Than $60,000 for Piedmont and Tri-County Technical Colleges

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and U.S. 3rd District Representative Gresham Barrett (R-Westminster) today announced Tri-County Technical College will receive a $30,918 grant and Piedmont Technical College will receive a $29,500 grant to aid the institutions in formulating comprehensive development plans. The funds can be used to identify and analyze problems at each institution as well as develop a comprehensive plan to address those issues. “South Carolina’s technical colleges play a vital role in our state’s education system,” said Graham, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. “Their continued success is a key element in developing a highly-skilled work force that will drive South Carolina’s economic development in the 21st Century.” "There is no doubt that Tri-County Tech and Piedmont Tech are key in educating South Carolina's work force," said Barrett. "A vital part of the success of our technical colleges is the partnership they have with the community and the business sector. These grants will enable each to continue to produce valuable and highly-trained workers as our economy continues to improve and South Carolina looks to the future." The grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Education. ####
