ICYMI: Graham, Sanders Go Toe-to-Toe in Debate
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) participated in a Boston debate hosted by the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, the Orrin G. Hatch Foundation, the Bipartisan Policy Center, and Fox News.
The debate was broadcast live on Fox Nation for subscribers. It is now available for all viewers online and will be broadcast on Fox News Channel at 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 18.
- GRAHAM: “Ask yourself the following question: am I better off today than I was two years ago? If you are, then you were in a world of hurt two years ago because most people are not better off today.”
- GRAHAM: “Here’s where we stand: 8.6 percent inflation, the highest in 40 years. When you go to the grocery store, for a hundred dollars, you’re lucky if you get a bag. Go fill up your car, you’ve got to take a mortgage out to fill up your car. What’s happened here? The policies that are being pursued by my Democratic colleagues are not working. The average American is in a world of hurt.”
- GRAHAM: “People out there, Senator Sanders, are living in hell. $600 [more] a month due to inflation. Wages are not going up. America deserves better than this. We can do better than this.”
- GRAHAM: “The path charted by Senator Sanders is full-on socialism. Full-on, unequivocal socialism from cradle to grave. That’s not going to fix America. We are not a socialist nation.”
- GRAHAM: “It’s a tough time to be a cop now. Who wants to go into law enforcement? It’s time to let the cops know they are not the problem – the criminal is the problem.”
- GRAHAM: “I am begging [Senator Sanders] to take ‘Medicare for All’ and bring it to the floor of the Senate, and let's vote. The reason it won't pass is because you are going to take private healthcare away from 200 million Americans and put us all under the government umbrella. It's going to cost about 40 trillion dollars.”
