WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement after Vice President Harris’s misleading comments in South Carolina on the recently introduced Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act.

“I’m glad the Vice President visited South Carolina and she is always welcome, but when she comes to our state, she should tell the truth – not mislead. 

“Vice President Harris and Democrats in Washington must be held accountable for their extreme position on abortion.

“The Biden-Harris Administration has the country on the wrong track when it comes to border security, immigration policy, crime, national security – and now they want to put us on the Chinese and North Korean track of abortion on demand up until the moment of birth.

“I reject their position. It is not good for America. It is cruel, inhumane, and out of line with the civilized world – and their idea must be soundly rejected.

“They want a national law that allows abortion on demand – anywhere, anytime, up until the moment of birth. They even want to use taxpayer dollars to pay for it. The Biden-Harris-Schumer proposal puts America in line with communist China and North Korea, where abortion is available until the moment of birth.

“What I’m trying to do at the national level is create a national minimum standard of banning abortion at 15 weeks, when a baby can feel pain, with exceptions for rape, incest, and the life and physical health of the mother. States that have more protections for the unborn in place will not be affected. My proposal puts us in line with 47 out of 50 European countries that have abortion bans at 12 to 14 weeks. It is common-sense protection of the unborn.”
