Graham: “On Many Fronts Law And Order Has Broken Down Here At Home And The World Is In Chaos”

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today spoke at a hearing with Attorney General Merrick Garland on oversight of the Department of Justice.

Graham warned Garland about Americans’ concern over the rising level of crime on the streets and the effect that the seemingly unlimited flow of drugs, like fentanyl, are having on their neighborhoods. Graham noted that fentanyl is now the leading cause of death among Americans ages 18-45, and takes more lives each year than car crashes and gun deaths combined.

  • GRAHAM: “We are going to have to put countries on notice that you are with us or against us when it comes to this scourge of fentanyl. We are going to have to control our border…On many fronts law and order has broken down here at home and the world is in chaos.” https://youtu.be/kzblcCSdaNk?t=266
  • GRAHAM: “Rebecca Kiessling, a mother who testified yesterday, lost two sons to fentanyl overdose. They were buying a Percocet pill, and it was laced with fentanyl and they died from taking one pill, both of them. She said, ‘This is a war. Act like it. Do something!’” https://youtu.be/kzblcCSdaNk?t=38
  • GRAHAM: “How about making drug cartels in Mexico and other places foreign terrorist organizations under U.S. law so we can go deeper and prosecute those who help these people poison America?” https://youtu.be/kzblcCSdaNk?t=95
  • GRAHAM: “Are you concerned that if a biological male is sent to a female prison that that could be a risk to female prisoners?”

GARLAND: “Every person in prison has to be dealt with dignity and respect.”                                          https://youtu.be/RRo6BdBPWp0?t=396
