Graham On White House Health Care Meeting

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement after meeting with President Trump at the White House.

“We had a great meeting with President Trump and my Senate Republican colleagues on the path forward to Repeal and Replace Obamacare.  The gap has been closed in terms of member objections but we aren’t there yet.  The current McConnell bill is much better than Obamacare.

“There is strong interest for sending more money back to the states and creating less control in Washington in terms of health care reform.  I will continue working to get Republican Governors on board for this new approach.”

BACKGROUND:

Last week, Graham and Senator Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana) brought forward a new approach to health care reform that would redirect much of the current federal funding for Obamacare health insurance – an estimated $110 billion in 2016 – and future funding directly to the states to use for health care spending.
