Graham On Senate Passage Of The Fiscal Year 2024 Senate National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 by a vote of 86-11. Graham noted there were several South Carolina priorities included in the Senate version of the bill.

“I appreciate the much-needed and strong bipartisan vote for the National Defense Authorization Act.

“The Senate, for 63 straight years, has passed the defense authorization bill, which demonstrates that when it comes to this body, there is wide and deep support for men and women in uniform. This bill provides our military service members with a much-needed pay raise and allows for modernization of weapons needed for future conflict. While it is short of the actual funding necessary in my view, it takes a strong step toward keeping our military well-equipped, well-armed and well-trained.

“The FY24 Senate NDAA authorizes millions for South Carolina military construction projects, as well as billions for the Savannah River Site. The bill also authorizes millions in defense-related research and development funding that can benefit academic institutions across the state.

“I look forward to passing subsequent appropriations bills to ensure that our military is funded at a level necessary to complete the mission.”
