Senate Confirms Three Ex-Im Bank Officials
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the Senate confirmation of Kimberly Reed to serve as president of the Ex-Im Bank and Judith DelZoppo Pryor and Spencer Bachus III to serve on the board of the bank.
“I am pleased we have now confirmed additional members to the board of the Ex-Im Bank. For too long the Bank has not had enough members to approve the financing that helps manufacturers in South Carolina and across America fairly compete it the global marketplace.
“Today’s vote allows the bank to go back into full operation. It will make South Carolina, and other U.S. manufacturers, even more competitive with China and other nations.
“Would I like to live in a world where there were no Ex-Im Banks? Sure. But I don’t think it’s fair for the U.S. to curtail our Ex-Im Bank operations while competitor nations keep theirs open and operating. That is unilateral surrender.
“Today is a good day for the South Carolina business community and the United States economy. I’m glad we finally got this done.”
