Graham Looks Ahead At The 117th Congress
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement after being sworn in on the first day of the 117th Congress.
“Today is a big day for me personally, and a big day for our country. We just started the 117th Congress, and I’m honored to be part of it.
“To be a senator from the state of South Carolina, I still have to pinch myself. It's something I never dreamed of, but people worked very hard to get me here. To all those who helped me in my campaign: thank you, I owe you so much.
“To the state as a whole: I will do my best to fulfill my oath to protect the Constitution and our country from all enemies foreign and domestic. I will do everything in my power to make sure our military has what they need to defend us in dangerous times. I will reach across the aisle to solve problems that have to be solved, and I will always fight for our conservative values.
“This has been a tough time for our country. The virus is raging back home, the hospitals are full. God bless those frontline workers.
“We’re divided unlike any time in recent memory politically, but we have a constitutional process to guide us, and I will follow that process.
“The vaccines are on the way. I think 2021 is going to be a great year once the vaccine is delivered.
“Until then, follow the guidelines, pray, take care of each other, and I will do my best as your senator to make sure that our country is on the right path.
“God bless you. God bless our state. God bless the United States of America.”
