WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) yesterday signed on to Cut-Cap-Balance which asks Senators and members of Congress to pledge to make substantial cuts in spending, enforce spending caps, and pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution before increasing the debt-limit. 

“There is zero chance we will ever balance our nation’s budget under the current construct,” said Graham.  “I’m convinced the only way Congress and the President will annually balance the federal budget is if it’s constitutionally required.  Without a Balanced Budget Amendment both parties will only talk about balancing the budget, never actually get it done.” 

Graham also noted the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has released a new long-term budget outlook which shows that our national debt could soon exceed the size of the entire United States economy.
