WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the passing of former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz.
“It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of my dear friend, former Secretary of State George Shultz.
“George Shultz was one of the most consequential leaders of the 20th century in helping Presidents Reagan and Bush 41 end the Cold War, allowing freedom to reign. He was always a steady hand and provided wise counsel to presidents, Members of Congress, and the American business community.
“At heart, George was an enlisted Marine who understood duty, honor, country. As with all good marines, George Shultz sacrificed for his nation and made America stronger and safer. Rest in peace my friend.
“My prayers are with his lovely wife and incredible family.”
