Graham Statement On Senate Passage Of Defense Authorization Bill

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement after the Senate passed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“Very glad that the Senate has shown overwhelming support for the passage of the NDAA,” said Graham. “For the last 63 years Congress has passed the defense authorization bill, which authorizes pay raises for our troops, modernizes our military, and in this case, stops a lot of woke policies. While no bill is perfect, the passage of the defense authorization bill makes us a stronger nation and provides certainty and predictability to our armed forces at a time of growing threats.”

Highlights of Provisions Included in the Final FY24 NDAA:

Advocates for South Carolina.

  • Authorizes billions for the Savannah River Site to sustain the nation’s nuclear arsenal as well as to treat and remove radioactive liquid waste
  • Authorizes millions for critical military construction projects in the state for both the active component and the South Carolina Army National Guard
  • Authorizes millions for defense-related research and development funding that could benefit state institutions

Gives troops a much-deserved pay raise.

  • Authorizes a 5.2 percent pay raise for both servicemembers and Defense Department civilian workers
