WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement following attacks on commercial ships by Iranian-backed Houthi militants.
 
“The Houthi’s attack on commercial shipping vessels is yet another example of how we have lost deterrence against Iran and its proxies.
 
“The Biden Administration saying ‘don’t’ to Iran and its proxies clearly is not working.  The Biden Administration says don’t - Iran and its proxies ‘do’.  We need to regain deterrence by letting Iran know its infrastructure is on the target list.

“Attacks against American forces in Iraq and Syria are serious and unrelenting, and now the Houthi forces are expanding the target list and going after shipping.
 
“None of this would be possible without support and backing from Iran.  I also believe all of this would stop if Iran thought we were serious about holding them accountable for the actions of its proxies.”
